Both the reading and lectuer discuss about a policy called let it burn. this policy indicates that we should let the forests burn due to natural fires. While the reading claims that this policy must be abanded since it has irrivicable comsequences, the lecturer disagrees and provides reason to defence it.
First, the author mentions that during the yellowstone's fire trees and other vegetations damaged hardly. vegetations and plants were incinerated ,therefore the forest turned to the devasted westland. However, the lecturer asserts that the fire makes the oppropriate
conditions for smaller plants to grow. plants which need open areas and high of heat to florish.
The reading next mentions that the yellowstone fire effected on wildlife as well as vegetations. many smaller specios were unable to scape and those animals which survived have difficulty return to the forest since the food chains are distrupted. The professor agrees but also says that animal population after the fire recovers. smaller plants make an ideal habitant for other specious such as hares or rabits.
Finally, the reading passage states that the yellowstone fire has negitive consequences on local economy. The number of tourists reduced after the fire. On the other hand, the professor believes this kinds of fire do not happen every year, and the visitors came back to yellowstone after awhile.
