The chart below shows the percentage of male and female teachers in six different types of educational setting in the UK in 2010.
The bar chart illustrates how many men and women were working as teachers in six kinds of different British teaching places in 2010. Overall, it is clear that there was a gap in male and female teachers working in various schools except college where the number of men was equal to that of women, and the extremely obvious differences were in nursery/pre-school and primary school.
Starting with nursery/pre-school, primary school and secondary school, there were more female teachers than male ones. The largest gap could be seen in nursery/pre-school where 95% women but only 5% men taught. It was followed by that in primary school where there were 90% women but 10% men. The smallest gap was in secondary school, 55% versus 45%.
Turning now to private training institute and university, however, the percentage of male teachers exceeded that of female counterparts. Compared with 30% women, 70% men educated in university. 55% males instructed in private training institute while 45% females did so.
