The provided maps illustrate how the village of Stokeford changed between 1930 and 2010.
The most striking difference is a vast increase in the number of private homes, developed on land formerly used for farming, and an overall expansion of the village. Some old buildings were updated and their purpose was changed, while a few other stayed on their old locations.
Focusing on changes, it is possible to notice that three lateral street connected to a main road were built by 2010. Additionally, a ring road was constructed in the middle of the village, and new houses were built alongside all the streets. A primary school, and large house building were expanded, however the purpose of the latter was changed into retirement home. Two shops, located just above the post office building on 1930 map, did not exist in 2010.
Admittedly, some structures, like a post office building, bridge and a few houses did not change at all during the given period of eight decades. The main road, leading to the bridge from the South, did not undergo any changes as well, although it was used as the basis for the village expansion. The river Stoke, passing on the West side of the village, remained unspoiled.
