As we all know, when winter starts, cold and flu are normal health issues during the winters. And in this statement author asserts that raw food diet protects us from cold and flu. Because according to the author raw foods are naturally rich in antioxidants, which prevent us from cold. But here due to the lack of proper data, it is difficult to believe on the author's statement.
At the very beginning, according to the author,"The five-year study found a strong correlation between a raw food diet and a steep decline in the average number of colds reported by study participants". In the above statement, author did not present any data related to his report. And we do not know that how worthy this report is? May be this report is based on a small group of people, and we can not make a statement which is based on a non reliable report. And at one point if we believe on author's claim, But here author is not clear that these people on whom this report is based were not taking any other prescribed medicine.
And my next point is, author didn't give any name of raw food, which can be helpful in cold. because some of Raw food, you can not eat as it is. you have to cook them. And there are some foods which can be harmful in cold and flu like juice drinks, watermelon, rice, etc.
And in his second claim, author says that,A control group that increased their antioxidant intake using supplements did not have a decrease in the number of colds, because they were not taking raw food. But according to me, this statement is insignificant, because as we all know that, antioxidants are helpful to prevent cold and if someone taking antioxidant through supplements, then these supplements should be useful for that person.
so, at the end, I find difficult to believe on Author's claim, due to lack of proper representation.
