Unlike the passage, which claims that there are evidence that prove that dinosaurs were endotherms. However, the professor disagrees with these evidence and provides three reasons of support.
First of all, the passage states that one of the reasons for believing that dinosaurs were endotherms is that dinosaurs fossils have been discovered in polar regions and only animals can maintain temperature in such cold weather. However, the professor refutes this point by stating that polar regions were much warmer than today and even though when weather become colder, polar dinosaurs could have hibernated or migrated to a warmer place like many reptiles so they can survive.
second of all, the article claims that there is connection between endothermy and the position and movement of the legs. The legs of dinosaurs were underneath the body as all of modern endotherms. However, the professor opposes this point by stating that the underneath position of the legs is to support more weight so they can grow larger and being large is advantage for dinosaurs.
lastly, the reading avers that there is connection between endothermy and bone structue. Fossilized bones of dinosaurs include structure called Haversian canals which allow them to grow quickly. The lecturer opposes this point by explaining that dinosaurs had growth rings, which is the thickening of the bones that indicates and proves that they were not rapidly growing. Growing rings happened when they grew rapid then slow then rapid again, which is not characteristic of endothermy as endothermal animals grow rapidly even if environment is so cold.
