The map below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now and plans for its development.
The given maps illustrate the current centre of Islip and plans for developing this area in the future.
Overall, it is clear that there will be a significant number of residents moving to this town centre. In addition, the number of modern facilities are expected to increase proportionately with the large population.
At present, the town centre is offering two shopping chains which are separated by the main road. however, the shop located in the north of the road is planned to be demolished, and then converted into four different parts including a bus station, a large shopping centre, a place for parking cars and a new residential area. There will be also a construction of another housing sector beside the available one, which is near the shops.
On the contrary, it is expected that the housing area faraway from the main road, and the school adjacent to it will not be interfered. To the east of the current centre, the park will be narrowed, along with the disappearance of the countryside, to make space for a new dual carriageway surrounding the main part of the centre.
