Some people believe that a good way to reduce crime is longer sentences. others may think that there are alternative ways to solve this problem. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.
Handful of clans opine that a great way to decline crime rate is by putting criminals behind the bars for longer period. Opponents may believe that there are other ways to solve this problem. This written discourse will discuss both perspectives and then offer a personal view point in upcoming fragments.
To embark with, lengthening sentences can make the guilty to be ashamed about their deeds and will give them a chance to clearly understand the difference between right and wrong. In addition to it, longer sentences can be an example for the other people and they would think twice before doing anything wrong.
On the contrary, people think that there are many other ways to handle this issue. Fristly, by counselling the culprits in the prison to understand their frame of mind and handle them so. Secondly, charging a large amount of fine as a punishment has to be paid by the offender to make them remorseful for their mistake. Moreover, penalty should be depend upon the type of offence. For instance, crimes like murder or rape and robbery or domestic violence, defaulters should be hanged and counseling should be helpful .
To sum up, I opine that crime can not be neglected whether it is a big or small ones and criminals should be punished as it will be a helpful for the society and for themselves as well. But the range of punishment must be determined by the crime. Sometimes, in anger or anxiety people take wrong steps and feel guilty for lifetime and then giving longer sentences only worsen the problem for such people. So, government should be first familiar with the crime and then penalized criminals.
