The given line chart illustrates the amount of CO2 wasted by each individual in four countries of the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal from 1967 to 2007. Overall, United Kingdom had the biggest figures of CO2 emission while Portugal have the lest over four decades.
At the beginning of the period, each person of United Kingdom released about 11 metric tonnes, then maintained in the next decade before gradually declined to about 9 metric tonnes from 1977 to 2007. The amount of CO2 emissions of Sweden which started with 8.5 metric tonnes, reached a peak at above 10 metric tonnes in 1977 afterwards. From 1977 to 1987, Sweden witnessed the dramatic decrease in CO2 emissions and this figure continued to reduce steadily to about 5.5 metric tonnes at the end of the period. Italy and Portugal shared the same pattern in the mount of released CO2 which significantly went up through the years. At the end of the period, the figures of Sweden and Portugal were at the same scale while that of Italy reached the second place replacing Sweden.
