To begin with, not everyone commits a serious crime such as Murder are locked in prison, there are some people who are prisoned for minor crimes such as theft, not following the rules etc, while the serious criminals have to be sentenced to prisons, the others can be utilized to do unpaid work for the community. This will help in the growth of the community and the environment. Activity such as planting trees conserving young children the elderly people. This is proven particularly effective in Delhi jail where the prisoners are allowed to meet the orphanage kids and old age home people and help them in their basic needs.
On the other hand, serving the community not only help other people but also the Prisoners themselves. The prisoners will have basic knowledge of cooking and gardening which will later help in their future at start any small-scale industry. This helps them to lead a normal life in society after the sentenced period. A recent survey from Times Now has revealed that 60% of criminals are able to lead the normal life after they get trained in the community service.
To conclude had been given a chance to serve the community during their prison time to lead a normal life in the later part of their life.
