The author in the given letter addressed to the editor is of the view that allowing construction activities along the edge of the wetlands would be a threat to the tufted groundhogs living in the sanctuary. Possibly the authors analysis is correct but it needs more specific evidence to bolster its view and convince the council to void the construction.
It has been pointed out that the groundhog's population in the historic times was once in millions. It would be best if an evidence could be provided that it was due to human interference that their population saw an decrease until the wetlands were declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 2004 and which ultimately lead to a positive impact on the groundhog community.
