The graph below shows the consumption of fish and different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The graph indicates changes in the quantities of 4 different kinds of meat eaten in one European country from 1974 until 2004.Overall, it can be seen that there was a marked growth in chicken consumption, whereas the popularity of the other food types tapered off over the given period.
Regarding the beef consumption, in 1979,it was the by far the most popular among these food types with roughly 225 grams consumed by each person weekly.Following this, lamb and chicken were eaten in similar amounts at the around the 150 grams level, while much less fish was consumed at just approximately 50 grams.
However, after 25 years, the consumption of beef and lamb declined drastically to roughly 100 grams and 55 grams respectively. Also, the consumption of fish tailed off to just below 50 grams and remained the least prefered food variety.
Turning to the consumption of chicken, by contrast, showed an upward trend, overtaking that of lamb in 1980 and that of beef by 1989.In 1989, it soared to almost 250 grams per person weekly.
