Both sources discuss the aspects of TED equipment for shrimps-fishing nets to prevent the accidental death of the turtles. This piece of ensuing paragraphs summarizes how the speaker refutes the points mentioned by the writer.
First, the reading says that the turtles seldom trapped in the fishing nets and it is not a huge phenomenon to add an extension on the nets which is costly for each fisher. In contrast, the speaker states that each year about thousands of the turtles die because they unexpectedly trap into the fishing nets and cannot catch oxygen from the surface. She goes on to state that installing the TED may cost each boat, but we should consider the cost-effectiveness of this decision as a holistic view on the impact of the fishing industry on the endangered species life. This is one way that the lecture challenges the reading.
Furthermore, the writer says that other alternative solutions like reducing the time of boat’s nets maybe more effective than the TED. The speaker argues that time limitation is not a practical suggestion for this problem. She continues by explaining that it is not possible to control all boat’s at different fishing time.
Finally, the reading asserts that the TED solution is not fit into large species. Conversely, the lecturer makes the points that designing the equipment which could be suitable for bigger kinds of turtles is physible. This argument is the final way that the lecture contradicts the reading.
