The passage discusses that there is not document that we know what Jane Austen looked like. But, recently a full-length portrait of a teenage girl has come up for sale and many asserts that the woman in the painting is Jane. The passage provides three reasons to support that. However, the professor rejects all these reasons by stating that none of them are convincing.
Firet, the article claims several decades after Jane;s death her family used a portrait in an edition of her letters. Her family believes this portrait is Jane. In contrast the lecture refutes this idea by explaining that, the portrait prepared many years after the Jane's death and there is possible that none of her families see her. So, their claim is nonesens.
Second, the reading says that the face in the painting is very similar to the Cassandras's sketch, which is obvious depicts Jane in her adaulthood. However, the professor rebuts this idea by stating that Austen's family was big and there were many teenage girl in that family. So, the girl in the painting could be one of those girls and similarity between siblings is not weird. So, the text's reason is not believable. Third, the text claims that there is a document that the painting was painted when Jane was a teenager. While, the teacher rejects this idea by saying that investigations on vanvas show taht the material that applyed in the painting was not available when Jane was a teenager. Also, the talk says that the painting's material was in the market when Jane was older. As you can see, the girl in the painting is not Jane.
