TPO-30 - Integrated Writing Task
The passage discusses the Roman navy attacked the Greek port city. Also the text explains that Greeks defended themeselves with a unique weaopon called a burning mirror. This weapon produced fire using heat of sun. The passage claims that this story is just a myth and provides three reasons for supporting claim. However the talk refutes each of autor's reasons by stating three reasons.
First, the text says that the ancient Greeks were not advanced enough to build such weopons. However, the professor explains that the weopon was not so complex to manufacture. The talk suggests that by combining many small parts of the copper surface the Greeks people could build the weapon.
Second, the reading contends that burning mirror needs a lot of time to set the ships on fire. Because the sips were made up woods, starting fire took long time. The lecture rejects this idea by stating that in addition of wood there were other stuff that ships made up of them like somethings that named patches. These patches just need scecond to set on fire. After that, the fire spread on all part of the ship.
Third, the passage claims that a burning mirror was not an improvement weapon in comparison with other existing weapon like flaming arrows. The professor rebuts this idea, too. The professor describes that there is a possibility that enemies were familliar with already weopons. So, the ancient Greeks need another weapon like a burning mirror. Enemies could easily see the flaming arrows, but these burning mirror was something new and they had no idea what they were, untile they ships set on fire.
