The line graph shows the consumption of energy in the USA by a 2008 report from 1980 to 2030.
Overall, the amount of petrol and oil, coal, natural gas, nuclear, solar/wind is expected to increase, the opposite is true for hydro power. Moreover, it can be seen that from history to projections, petrol and gas are consumed the most, on the other hand, hydro power had the lowest consumption.
In 1980, petrol and gas started at highest point (35 million) and had fluctuation (up to nearly 40 million in 2005). It is set to increase over the period (over 45 million in 2030). Although coal is used nearly 5 million less than natural (natural 20 million and coal 15 million), but after 50 years of fluctuation, by 2030, coal (30 million) is expected to be used 5 million more than natural gas (25 million). Atomic and solar energy had the same amount of consumption in 1980, but solar energy tended to increase steadily until 2030 from nearly 5 to over 5 million. At the same time, solar/wind energy had slightly fluctuation in the first twenty years and will rise slightly to 2030 (about 5 million).
On the contrary, in 1980 it was estimated that about 5 million hydro power was consumed in the US but this figure is likely to decrease to 3 million in the near future.
