The diagram below shows the life cycle of plastic bottles.

The diagram demonstrates how plastic bottles are produced and what happens to them after the usage. The plastic bottles go through 5 stages in their life time while some of them get a change to renew their life at the end of the cycle.

The main input of plastic bottles is harvested cereals and the bottles are made using a plant that process the input and deliver final product. The life of the plastic bottles starts with extracting glucose from the harvested cereals by the plant. They will then move into a stage where the plant produce polymers from the extracted glucose through fermentation. The third stage involves making the bottles using polymers and dispatching those from the plant as finished ones.

In their 4th stage of the life, plastic bottles are thrown into the rubbish box after the usage and finally, some of the plastic bottles will be taken for recycling process while the others will be left in the landfill without any use. As mentioned before, in the final stage (fifth stage) some bottles will renew their life by going through recycling.
