Overall, the number of UK and Italy had an upward trend in the levels of CO2, whereas there was a considerable increase in the others.
In 1967, the United Kingdom ranked the highest points in CO2 air pollutants each person, about 11 metric tonnes while just only 1 metric tonnes were emitted CO2 by each the Portuguese. At this point, the people lived in Sweden had the CO2 at 9 metric tonnes, which was twice times as the average levels of this emission, just over 4 metric tonnes.
For 40 years, the figure for the UK saw a significant decline in the amount of CO2 by 2 metric tonnes, from 1967 to 2007. Besides, in 2007, the amount of this air pollutant in Sweden drops steadily at 5 metric tonnes after growing rapidly in 1977, just over 9 metric tonnes. By contrast, there was the same pattern as CO2 in Italy and Portugal. These countries remained stable in the period from 1997 to 2007 after going sharply, about 7 and around 5 respectively.
