( re-write)The table below gives information about the underground railway systems in six cities. ( ielts book 5 test 4)
The table describes the undercover railway systems of six diverse metropolitan cities from four different countries.
The data reveals that the year when the networks were first established, the distance of each railway, and the number of annual travelers.
Firstly, the table figures demonstrate London is the initial city where subways were inaugurated in 1863, followed by Paris almost four decades later in 1900. However, by comparing, Paris carry’s larger numbers of travelers in 1900 by 1191 million each year whereas, London ratio was two-third by 775 million comprehensively but, its distance for every year was more by 394 km than Paris which was 199km respectively.
Moreover, Tokyo carried far more passengers in 1927 by 1927 millions on a yearly basis. Meanwhile, the other towns Los Angeles, Kyoto and Washington ratio were third- fourth as compared to Tokyo and Paris by 144, 45, or 50 millions respectively. Additionally, these 4 cities have shortest distance history. Although, One interesting fact is that Los Angeles, Kyoto, and Washington are the newest subways over the period.
In short, the figures illustrate that the six major urban domains have their own distinct travelling proportion during the year. The newer subways with the shortest distances have fewer customers. The older subways with longer distances attract the largest number of commuters.
