The diagrams show total global population between 1900 and 2000, and its proportions according to region.
The line graph gives information about the total number of people in the world over the course of 100 years starting from 1900. The pie charts illustrate the allocation of the world population in term of area in two separate years 1900 and 2000.
Looking at the line graph, it is evident that there was an upward trend in the global population over a 100-year period starting from 1900. As can be inferred from data in pie charts, the world population mainly allocated in Asia during the examined period.
With respect to the line graph, the global population registered nearly 2 billion in 1900, followed by a slight fluctuation during a 70-year period, prior to sharply climbing to 6 billion by the end of the time frame, in 2000.
As regards the pie charts, the total number of people in the world in 1900 was a quarter of that in 2000. In 1900, Asia represented a significant proportion of the aggregate world population, equivalent to 60% in 1900. This figure modestly declined to more than half in 2000. Experiencing a similar pattern, the percentage of global population distributing in Europe considerably fell about 11% from 24% in 1900.
By 1900, Africa accounted for a meager proportion of the global population, equivalent to 4% and then this figure experienced an increase to 10% in 2000. A similar trend was seen in Latin America, as its proportion constitutes only 3% in 1900, but it rose significantly to 8% by the end of surveyed period. The global population allocating in North America and other regions stabilized at 5% for the former and 3% for the later over the time frame. In particular, a new region namely Middle East and North America was shown in the pie chart in 2000 with 6% of the world population.
