The reading and the lecture both discuss whether dinosaurs were endothermal mammals or not. While the reading states that are three significant evidence that dinosaurs were endotherms, the lecture of the other hand refutes each of the evidence provided in the reading passage.

First of all, the reading claims that dinosaurs' fossils which have been found in the polar region indicate that only endothermal mammals are able to maintain their body temperature in such cold climate. On the other hand, the lecture argues that the polar region was warmer than today. therefore, it is quite possible that dinosaurs could migrate to warmer areas or hibernate. Consequently, the fossils evidence does not support that polar dinosaurs were endotherms.

In addition, the reading asserts that dinosaurs' leg position underneath its body and not on the side is clear evidence that dinosaurs engaged in physical activity like running. therefore, there is a direct connection between endothermy and leg position. However, the professor challenges this point by pointing out that Just like a crocodile, dinosaurs had their legs underneath their body to support its body structure and hold extra body weight and not for physical activity purpose. therefore, there is no correlation between endothermy and legs position.

Finally, the reading contends that the presence of haversian canals in dinosaurs' bone structure is another indicator that these mammals were endothermy. The author explains blood vessels and nerves inside Harversian canals allow animals to grow faster which is a characteristic of endotherms. On the other hand, the lecturer averts this claim by saying that dinosaurs bone structure content not only haversian canals but also growth rings. According to the professor, the growth rings allow a fluctuant growth pattern (rapid growth followed by slow growth or no growth) which is not a distinctive characteristic of endothermal animals. Whereas, rapid growth is a feature for endothermal dinosaurs.
