TPO 42 task 1
The article introduces the topic of that since the glass has been used as an approved material in the modern buildings that caused birds to be injured when they fly. More specifically, the writer discusses that there are three ways to prevent them from being wounded. The lecturer in the listening passage disagrees. he believes that none of these solutions is certainly worthwhile and attacks each of the claims made in the reading.
First of all, in the reading, the author begins by stating that one-way glass could be altered instead of typical ones. The lecturer, However, disproves. he states that the surface of kind of glass is like a mirror which is not distinguishable for birds. he goes on to say that if they the reflection of the sky or tree in a mirror, they will fly right into them.
Secondly, the author also claims that some colorful lines on other designs on common window glass would solve this problem. Again, the professor thinks that there are flaws in the writer's argument. he holds the that birds may assume there are holes on these patterns, so they will fly right through them unless the majority of the glass spaces are painted which creates the rooms of the buildings too dark.
Finally, the reading claims that an artificial magnetic field to conduct birds away from buildings. On the other hand, the professor casts doubt by saying that they use the earth's magnetic when they are traveling long distances. he clarifies this issue by explaining that birds use eyes and brightness of the light to navigate for short trips.
In conclusion, although the reading and the lecture are both about how to prevent birds from being hurt by the window glass, the three main points made in the reading are effectively challenged bt the speaker.
