The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Two charts present the information about energy use and related greenhouse gas emissions in a typical Australian household.
Overall, the major fraction of energy is used for general and water heating, whilst miscellaneous appliances and water heating generate the largest portion of gas emissions.
Heating constitutes 42% of energy consumption, which is 12% higher than water heating demands (30%). Other household appliances comprise 15% of the energy budget, which is approximately two times as large as the energy spent on refrigeration (7%). Cooling and lighting constitute for the remainder of 6% (that is 2 and 4% respectively).
Despite the fact that heating consumes the major portion of energy in a household, it accounts for only 15% of greenhouse gas emission. 32% of gas comes from water heating procedures. This is roughly as big as gas generated by other appliances (28%). The remaining part of gas (26%) is divided between refrigeration, lighting and cooling (14, 8, 3 % accordingly).
