The given bar diagram shows the gender-wise academic staff percentages across the faculties of a major university in 2012.
The percentage of female academic staff is comparatively less than the percentage of male academic staff in most of the faculties considered in the study. Fields such as arts, education, and medicine have more female staff while the remaining categories are dominated by male staff. The difference between male and female academic staff percentage is higher in engineering section, where more than 80 % of the faculties are males and less than 20 % are females. Exactly opposite train can be observed with faculties of education where nearly 80 % of the staff are females and the rest are males.
In the field of medicine, male and female staff percentage as are almost equal, nearly 50%. Although male staff percentage is higher in the departments of business, law, and science, the female staff percentage is close to 40%.
In general, the number of male employees in the academic section of various departments is more than the corresponding female employees. Women are less employed as academic staff compared to men.
