In general, there was a slow increase in the value of two kinds of books, namely ladies’ romantic fiction and children’s books, while the figure for educational books decreased. In particular, ladies’ romantic fiction was more common than any other types of books throughout the period shown.
In 2000, the sales value of ladies’ romantic fiction was the most popular type of book which stood at 45 million, while children’s books and educational books achieved at 38 million and 33 million orderly. Moreover, the number of ladies’ romantic fiction continued increasing gradually over the next 4 years and ended the period at 53 million. Similarly, children’s books underwent a similar trend, with the figure increasing to 41 million in 2004.
In contrast, the figure for educational books remained unchanged at 33 million from 2000 to 2003 and then decreased to 30 million at the end of the period.
