Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graph compares the trend in the population in the USA, Sweden and Japan for those aged 65 and over. The study covers a period from 1940 to 2040.
Overall, it can be seen that is an increasing trend in the number of people over the age of 65 from 1940 which will continue until 2040. It is also clear that Japan will be the leading country with the most number of elderly members by the end of the time frame.
In 1940, there was a steady increase in the population of those aged 65 and over in the USA starting of with just below 10 % during the initial year of the study which will reach to about 23 % by the end of 2040. This would mean an a difference of 13 % within a century.
Sweden, on the other hand, also started with about 8 % in 1940 which gradually increased to 20 % in 2015. This figure will slightly dip by 2028 before making a significant increment by the end of the study period.
Conversely, Japan, who had an initial rate of 5 % in its citizens aged 65 and over in 1940, made a marginal decrease at 3 % in 1960. This percentage continued for about 30 years before it increased to 5 % in 2005. Within the remaining 35 years, the elderly population will multiply to about five times more making it the highest among the three countries being observed.
