The bar graphs below compares number of men and women opting for full-tie and part-time higher education in Britain in three periods: 1970/71, 1980/81, 1990/91.
Overall, number of men pursuing full-time education decrease over the given period. While, that of women increased significantly. Part-tie education showed a much similar trend in both genders and it increased over the years.
In early years of 1970/71 women opting for full-time education was comparatively lower (around 700) than men (1000). This was equalized as number of women preferring full-time higher education rose by 100 and that of men reduced by 200; to give a figure of 800. However, in the final year this flipped, with women being at the position where men started (1000) and men maintaining the fall at just over 800.
The rate of enrolling for part-time education by males increased slowly over the years with 100 at the beginning to 200 in the final year. Whereas, a significant hike in number of opposite gender was encountered with a rise of approximately 200 from 0. thus, diminishing the gap between two.
