Write a letter to a city planning manager about the demolition of a historical building in your area.
In your letter, you should:
· explain why it shouldn’t be demolished.
· suggest a future use for this building.
· recommend a way to raise money for repairs.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to express my concern about pulling down the historical monument of our city. I got this information from a local newspaper of our area.
My name is Ell Green and I am a resident of Velasca Street, Milan. I was really depressed with your decision to turn down this ancient building as this building is an asset to our city and it has just completed a century a week ago. We are very proud of it to have in our area. Moreover, This heritage building truly represents the traditional culture of ancient time and is well-known for its interior and exterior sculptured beauty. The walls of this old architecture depict the hand-made carvings of an ancient time.
With regard to future use, perhaps it would be a good idea if the local government would spend money on the refurbishment task. After this renovation work, this classical monument would attract many foreign visitors and the local authorities can put a nominal entry fee for the visitors to raise money. This way, the money collected can be spent on the maintenance of it. In addition to this, the building can also be used for guided educational tours for school children.
In order to raise sufficient funds for repairing, I would strongly recommend that the city council should collect donation from the local people and advertise in the newspapers to get charity from wide audience. Therefore, I request you to please reconsider your plan to demolition the building.
I hope for prompt consideration of this urgent request.
Yours faithfully,
Ell Green
