The article and lecture both discuss endotherms and the evidence of dinosaurs were endotherms or not. The reading states that it was long assumed that dinosaurs were not considered as endotherms but now it is considered and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that dinosaurs were not endotherms and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that the fossils of dinosaurs have been discovered in the polar regions which can be the evidence to prove they were endotherms. The professor of lecture refutes this point by stating that it might be possible the dinosaurs were in the warn region which is become colder now. They could be migrated on the warmer regions. So, it can not be proved they were endotherms by this point.
Second, the article posits that dinosaurs had the legs underneath their body and they used their legs for running which match with the physiology of endothermy. However, the professor contends that it is true, they had legs under their body. But it might be possible that they could not able to produce high energy for running. Their legs could be underneath their body for another reason like carrying more weights because they were too large. So, this point also not enough to prove they are endotherms.
Third, the reading avers that dinosaurs had a similar bone structure with the endothermy called Haversian canals. The lecture opposes this point by saying that they might have the Haversian canals but they had also growth rings. They used to grow periodically accordingly the growth ring. After a certain period, they were growing slowly then again rapidly. These characteristics are contrasted with the characteristics of the endothermy. So, this evidence can not also prove that dinosaurs were endotherms.
