A franchise is a license issued by a large, usually well-known, company to a small business owner. Under the license, the owner acquires the right to use the company's brand name and agrees to sell its products. In return, the franchising company receives a percentage of sales.

With this in mind, the author states that franchise has several advantages for people who want to start up a new business. On the other hand, the professor contradicts all three episodes of arguments mentioned in the passage, believing the results of some study show in opposit of the autor claims.

Second, the reading selection holds the view that an benefit of franchise is elimination of advertisement fee because you will become a part of a well-known and popular brand. However, the lecture explains that people how buy a franchise should pay 6 percent of the total of their income to the company. Moreover, the company doesn't advertise your business and just advertise the brand. So, the individuals do not take advantage of compony advertisment.
Finally, the author mentions that franchise is more secure that opening up your own nonfranchise business. On the other hand, the speaker contradicts this idea and explains that the result of study shows that the independent businesses are two times successful than franchise.
