The lecture and the reading passage are both about the navigation ways that humpback whales used to migration. While the passage states that these animals used stars to navigation the lecturer contradicts these claims by providing evidence to the contrary.
The author argues that these whales are so intelligent and can use stars and night lights to navigation. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that some birds like ducks use stars for navigation but their intelligence are average so this is not relationship between intelligence and navigating by stars.
While the reading passage mentions that these whales migrated in straight lines and animals that migrate in straight use external object to navigation the lecture believes that animal use earth magnetic field to go straight.
Finally, the reading passage states that these whales sometime floating straight up and it is a evidence using stars for navigation; however, the professor insists that humpback look for animals which wanted to hunt and this behavior is not for watch stars.
