A glance at the diagram provided reveals interesting information about producing electricity in a hydroelectric power station. There are significantly different between day and night operating.
The station uses the power from water's flow in a river. They have constructed a dam in the high-level reservoir. The dam will prevent the water at night and release them in day. Therefore, whenever the dam is opened, the flow of water will run with drammatically high speed and bring along a great deal of energy which is likely to be generated electricity. At the power station, the flow will turn the turbines around and operate generator that create electricity. The higher power the water brings along, the more electricity is generated. In the end, throughtout the power lines, the electricity comes to National grid and is widely used.
At night, the operation is opposite. The reversible turbines will pump water from low-level reservoir to flow during the pumping then into high-level place. This could help the station maintain or event push the amount of water for using in day.
