The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of Australian males and females in six different categories who exercised regularly in the year 2010.
Overall, it is apparent that Australian women have a tendency to participate in regular exercise more than men in all groups of age except for 15 to 24. The biggest difference between the two sexes was in the middle-aged group.
As can be seen from the chart, the percentage of male youngsters doing regular physical activity in the age from 15 to 24 registered 52,8%, the highest of all groups. In contrast, only around 40% of men work out frequently at the age of 35 to 44. Physical activity gained popularity again in Australian men over 65 accounting for just under 47%.
Looking at the chart in more detail, the ratios of women who engaged in frequent exercises were all above 50% in the age groups from 35 to 64. Interestingly, the lowest percentage of women exercised regularly was in 65 and over nearly equal that of males.
