In this set of materials, the reading passage states that agnostids were a group of marine animals that lived 450 million years ago, and scientists do not have information about how they eat or how they behaved, so the reading passage provides 3 theories about agnostids ate and behaved. On the other hand, the listening section brings into question the reading points by providing different reasons (and examples).
First, the reading passage indicates that the agnostids may have been free-swimming predators because other types of arthropods were free-swimming predators. In contrast, the lecturer believes that the free-swimming predators are live in an open ocean, and they have well developer eyes to easily see their prays. But, the agnostids had tiny poor eyes, and some of them were blind. In this situation, they must have other sensor organs that used for finding prays. However, their fossils do not show this organ.
Furthermore, the reading argues that the agnostids may have been seen dwellers because other types of arthropods living in this way; conversely, what the lecturer believes is different. She says that the see dweller animals cannot move fast or go to a far distance. They only stay in the localized era in small geographic place and also move slowly. But, the agnostids lived in multiple place and era that shows they may move fast from one place to other places. So, it is unusual that the agnostids were seen, dwellers.
Finally, according to the reading, the agnostids may have been parasites that live on other animals body. However, the professor believes that the parasites population do not very large because they live on the host's body. If their population become large, they may kill host animals. Nevertheless, the agnostids population were very large, and they could not become parasites.
