Humans have long been fascinated by elephants, the largest land animal in the modern world. Social animals that live in herds, elephants are native to both Africa and Asia. Their large ears, long trunk, and long life span have made elephants one of the most captivating creatures on Earth. Our long-standing interest in elephants has led to several beliefs about surprising elephant behaviors.
The reading and lecture are both about elephants which is an attracting animal on Earth. The author of the reading feels that some exciting behaviour makes elephants mysterious animal and presents some of the features. The lecturer challenged the claim made by the author. He is on the opinion that some believe are misunderstood by the people.
To begin with, the author argues that the elephant can realize their death. He also claims that when elephants are old and tenuous they breaking off the hard and go alone to a place near the water. The lecturer challenged specific claims made by the author. He mentions that when elephants grow old they have some problem with chewing the vegetable. Therefore, they go near the waterside to find soft food for eating.
Second, the writer suggests that elephants can have some knowledge of art. He also mentions that they can realize some art and able to paint with brushstrokes on the canvas. However, the lecturer rebuts this by mentioning that human teaches the elephant for doing the specific artwork. He also additionally states that elephants are sensitive to ear, thus when human touches the ear they draw the picture that they learn.
Third, the author posits that elephants afraid of mice but they do not afraid of fierce animals like lions and tiger. He also adds that they usually avoid the mice when they see them. In contrast, the lecturer position is that animals normally afraid of unfamiliar conditions. He also notes that mice are unfamiliar to the elephants and they think that mice could harm them. But when they realize that they are not harmful, they do not react.
