Overall, the percentage of households in rented accommodation gradually decreased from 1918 to 2001 and then slightly increased in 2011 compared to 2001. While on the other hand, the proportion of households in owned accommodation steadily decreased from 1918 to 2011 and then there was a little fall in 2011 than previous measurement in 2001.
The chart evidently depict that, the highest percentage of renting accommodation is in 1918 which is around 78 percent, while the lowest is in 2001. Meanwhile, from 1918 it decreased little to 78% in 1939 and remain constant till 1953. Then it gradually fell to approximately 31 percent in 2001 which rose to 36% in later 2011.
Opposite to the renting accommodation, owned accommodation had the lowest proportion in 1918(around 22%) and highest percentage in 2001(around 69%). It rose a little in 1939 and remain stable till 1953 which steadily climb up to the peak in from 1961 to 2001. Later, it fell slightly in 2011 which was about 64%.
