You recently bought a jacket, but when you got home, you discovered it was damaged. When you took it back to the store, you were told that merchandise cannot be returned.

Write a letter to the store manager. In your letter

Describe the problem with the jacket.

Explain what happened when you tried to return it.

Say what you would like the manager to do.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with regards to a jacket that I have bought recently from your Macy’s store in New York on 1st Nov 2019. As I am a regular customer as well as hold membership, so hopefully you will consider my situation favourably.

Let me explain the situation in detail. I purchased a classic Gap leather jacket, which is camel brown in colour and size XS (extra-small). Unfortunately, while buying I did not have much time to check the interior of jacket thoroughly. After I reached home, I noticed that inner lining was ripped off at multiple places and zip lock was not working smoothly. I, therefore opted to exchange it next day immediately.

I called toll-free help line, and a customer service agent assured me to rectify the issue so I visited the store in-person. Upon visit although the representative said that it does not qualify for either replacement or refund. Furthermore, I asked for credit note as per store’s 30-day return policy however he straight-away refused to do so.

Would you kindly instruct your staff to write a credit note to me because money cannot be refunded. If, for instance you are unable to provide credit note, then please allow me to exchange this detrimental piece with some other clothing item in your store.

Look forward to hearing from you for the most effective resolution soon.

Yours faithfully,

James Arthur
