The tables below give information about sales of fairtrade labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004 in five European countries
The tables provide the details of the European countries (UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden) about the procurement of fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in the year 1999 and 2004. The number of sales are in euros.
Overall, coffee sales were increased for all the 5 European countries when compared to the previous period. In contrast, the procurement of bananas was rose only for 3 countries except for Sweden and Denmark.
To begin, the coffee sales for the UK in 1999 was accounted for 1.5 millions of euros and after 4 years it increased more than 18.5 million than the last 4 years. In 1999, 3 millions of euros of coffee sales in Switzerland and in 2004 sales were rose to 100% more. Both Denmark and Sweden coffee sales were gently rose to 0.2 million in 2004 while in 1999, 1.8 and 0.8 million sales respectively. The coffee sales in Belgium started at 1 million and later 4 years it moved to 1.7 million.
On the other hand, sales of bananas of Switzerland were remained highest among the other countries with 15 million in 1999 and even after 4 years, it remains in the top position with 47 millions of sales. The number of bananas sales in Belgium and the UK was gradually increased to 4 and 5.5 millions of euros in the year 2004 where in 1999 it was 0.6 and 1 million only. With the exception of Sweden and Denmark, sales sank to 1 and 0.9 millions of euros in the year 2004 from 1.8 and 2 million in 1999.
