Overall, the poverty levels of single persons are more than that of couples. Single parent with children are more poor than couples. Aged peoples are likely to be least poor.
It is clear from the table that 11% that is about 1837000, Australians are living in poverty. Single aged person are more poor than aged couple that is 6% and 4% respectively.
Just over one fifth of the single parent without children are more poor than couple without. The same pattern is also seen in case of sole parent and couples with children. In sole parent the poverty levels were around 21% and in couple iit is about 12%.
