Overall, all figures experienced an upward trend over the period given. However, only the figure for fresh fruits and vegetables was higher than that of the consumer price index.
In terms of the consumer price index, the figure started at 60 in 1979 and increased steadily over a 30-year period. It finished at approximately 200 in 2009. Regarding fresh fruits and vegetables, the prices experienced a fluctuation upward trend between 1979 and 2009. It began at 60- the same beginning figure of the consumer price index. After fluctuating, it peaked at 330 in 2008 before decreasing slightly to 320 in 2009.
Sugar and sweets, carbonated drinks had the same trend. Their prices began at 60 in 1979 and increased in the following years. However, they were lower than the price of the consumer price index. At the end of the period, the figures for sugar and sweets, carbonated drinks finished at 200 and 150, respectively.
