Summarise the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they case doubt on specific points made in the reading passage. TPO 11
The article states that young people are reading less literature like novels, plays, and poems which affects the culture and future of the literature and provides three reasons for support. However, the professor explains that it doesn't affect and refutes each of the author's reasons.
To begin with, the reading states that people are not reading literature so they can not develop intellectual stimulation like exercise our imaginations, empathize with others and expand our understanding of language. On the other hand, the lecturer contradicts these points by stating that there are other books like science, history, and politics which are a good source to provide intellectual stimulation. Those books are of high quality and they also provide readers to stimulate their imaginations.
Moreover, the passage states that people are spending more time on the television, watch a music video, or read a Web page, this has lowered the level of culture. Nonetheless, the speaker says that watch a good movie and listening to music don't affect the culture. There are many forms to express our culture. Good movies and music are some of the forms of culture.
last, the reading contends that because of the lack of an audience publisher are not interested to invest in literature. The instructor cast doubt on this theory, she says that it is true, there is less reader's but it is also due to the author. Because they use very complicates writing styles that it is hard for readers to understand.
