Overall, there was a downward trend in the percentage of homeowners, which opposite to that of the renters.
According to the bar chart, in 2004, the percent of people who possess their own house reached a peak of nearly 60% which almost triple the rest who still be renters. However, the position gradually reversed since then. Over 8 following years, it experienced a steady decline in the proportion of homeowners which could be interpreted as there was an upward trend for the renters. In 2012, the percentage of homeowners dropped to approximately 43% that nearly equal to the renters (41%).
During the 2013-2014 period, the homeowners were not outnumbered like they used to be while the renters accounted for the majority. The proportion of renters climbed and peaked at about 48% whereas that amount of homeowners kept decreasing and hit the lowest point at about 36%.
