Even though both of the reasing and lecture discusse about the population growth of the zebra mussel in a non-native habitats, the lecturer cast doubt on the reasons wich was wrote in the article for support this idea that control of spreading zebra mussles in an implausible idea.
At the first, in the passage it was mentioned that spreading the zebra mussle by the different ways such as via attachmentto the ships is an uncontrolled issue in light of the past events about zebra mussle's spreading. the professor, however, argued this statement by explanation that although in the past controlling the spread of this zebra mussle by ships was an impracticable idea, but now in repect to the science and technology development, provention of attachment of this mussle to the ships as well as cargos is a possibilty.
Secondly, the passage states that the zebra mussle are able to be the dominant species in the non-native habitats because of the fact that there is not predator for this mussle. yet, the lecturer holds that view that the zebra mussle have predators such as birds. So, this idea is not acceptable.
Third, the passgae mentions that thezebra mussle are very dangerous for the fish population in the their habitats due to the fact that this mussles are plankton eater. although the professor claims that not only the zebra mussle are not as a cause to the redusing the fish population, but also are portifable for the fish population in the fish habitat by mentioning to the this fact that this mussle can provide some of the neede nutrition for the some of the group of fishes.
