The Picture illustrates the proportion of water utilization for a variety of purposes such as industrial, agricultural and domestic usage in six regions of the world including North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.
Overall, Europe leads other regions in Industrial water usage and the Central Asian region uses the most water for agricultural purposes. In contrast, Central Asia has the least proportion of water utilization in industries. South America tops the table for its highest usage of water for domestic purposes.
Regions like Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, South America has the highest as well as similar proportion in terms of agricultural usage of water and it is about 88%, 81%, 84%, and 71% respectively. With the least amount of water used in industries and domestic purpose, with these two sources combined it is almost or lesser than a fifth of total water usage in the above-mentioned regions.
In comparison, North America and Europe have similar water usage, in case of industries with 53% water used by Europe and 48% water used by North America, therefore, this is the highest water utilizing zone in these two regions. Agriculture uses one third with domestic being the least of almost one fifth.
