TPO25- Question : Summarise the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they case doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
In the reading passage, the author feels that are three possible explanations for the no use of vessels as electric batteries. However, finding all these ideas implausible and questionable, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in text and states some evidence to the contrary.
To begin with, the writer posits that do not have evidence that any metal wires were located near the vessels. This specific argument is challenged by the lecture. She is of the opinion that these vessels were discovered by local people not for archaeologists. As a result, in her view evidences, such as metal wires would be modificated.
Secondly, the author suggests that the copper cylinders inside the jars was probably used for holding scrolls of sacred texts, not for generating electricity. In contrast, the lecture rebuts this by mentioning that the main purpose of the jars would be changed with the discover of the iron and others materials. Hence, she argues that is possible that the jars used to be used for electricity sources.
Finally, the reading believe that batteries provide from the vessels would have been completely useless the people in this period. But, the lecture claims that the energy from the jars used to be used as a magical power and even for medical purposes.
