The pie charts compare the mean proportion in typical meals of three different kinds of nutrients (sodium, saturated fat and added sugar) which can cause the health problem if eaten a lot.
Looking at the charts, it is clear that American people ate breakfast with the least percentage of unhealthy nutrients. In contrast, in dinner and snack-time, they took a lot of nutrients, which may be detrimental to their heath.
In terms of sodium, 43% of sodium was consumed in the dinner. This figure followed by lunch registered at about a third (29%). Both the breakfast and the snack made up 14% of sodium. A similar situation was seen in saturated fat, dinner accounted for the largest percentage of the fat consumption at 37%, followed by lunch at just over a quarter. The proportion of snack consumed stood at 21% and the least amount of the percentage of consumption of fat was at 16% by breakfast.
Finally, with regard to added sugar, American people usually inserted sugar in snack with 42%, which was equal to the total amount of consumption in both lunch and dinner, at 19 % and 23 % respectively. The supplement of sugar was not the popular type in breakfast, which comprised of 16% in America.
