Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific points made in the reading passage.
There is a debate about whether dinosaurs are endotherms animals, that can keep their body temperatures constant. The reading passage provides three evidence that dinosaurs were endotherms animals, while the lecturer disagrees with the opinions and offers potent arguments.
First, the reading passage suggests dinosaur fossils that have been discovered in Polar Regions can be the indicator, as only endotherms could survive in such a glacial environment. However, the lecturer explains that Polar regions before were much warmer than it is now. Moreover, when it became cold, dinosaurs could have migrated to other warmer places. So the dinosaur fossils cannot prove dinosaurs are endotherms.
Second, like all modern endotherms, dinosaurs' legs were underneath the body to give energy for running, the reading passage suggests. Nonetheless, the lecturer gives another explanation about the leg position. She says the leg position was for undertaking more weights to allow dinosaurs to have larger bodies. Therefore, the leg position of dinosaurs does not mean high energy for running.
Finally, the writer believes that the presence of Haversian canals in dinosaurs' bones show they were endotherms animals. Notwithstanding, the lecturer contradicts the idea by pointing out the fossils show the presence of growth rings. The rings occur due to the thickening of the bone. The thickening indicates that the dinosaurs were not continuously but were experiencing periods of rapid growth and periods of no growth in succession. This pattern, she says, is a characteristic of non-endotherms animals.
