You work for an international company, and would like to spend six months working in its head office in another country.
Write a letter to your manager. In your letter
Explain why you want to work in the company's head office for six months
Say how your work could be done while you are away
Ask for his/her help in arranging it
Dear Mr Sam,
I am writing to express my interest to spend six months at our head office in Canada.
I have been leading the Design team at our location for three years now and have successfully led the introduction of our latest engine. The performance lab in Canada is the only place where we conduct testing for our engines and I believe it will be a great opportunity for me to be actively involved and learn the process. This understanding of the testing process will help our group to be able to develop better designs upfront and increase company revenues.
Since the time difference between the two locations is negligible, I can still oversee all my team activities from Canada. I have already had one on one meetings with all the members to plan out activities for next couple of months.
I would greatly appreciate if you can bring this up with your Manager in your next weekly meeting. I strongly believe this move will position our group and company at large for greater success and look forward to your support and backing in making it possible.
Yours sincerely,
John Doe
