The given table illustrates the market share of seven different brands of cell phones in all over the world in to consecutive years, 2005 and 2006.
Overall, there was an increase in the percentages of market share of three manufacturers namely Nokia, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson compared to the rest of companies. BenQ Mobile had the lowest market share globally whereas Nokia Mobile secured the top in its rank as number one leading cellphone company worldwide.
Between 2005 and 2006, the market share for Nokia increased slightly by 3%, from 32.5% to 35%. Meanwhile, the Motorola Company climbed moderately, from 17.7% to 21.1%. The percentage for Sony Ericsson manufacturer went up minimally lower than Nokia and Motorola, from 6.3% to 7.4%.
In contrast to the three manufacturers above, the proportion of other companies decreased in market share in the given period of time. Cell phone’s market share of Samsung brand decreased slightly less than other companies, accounted for 12.7% and 11.8% respectively. Likewise, a gentle decline of less than 1% market share could be observed for LG manufacturer, from 6.7% in 2005 to 6.3% in 2006. For other companies that are not listed, while their percentage in 2005 was 19.2%, it went down by 3% in 2006. The market share of BenQ Mobile in 2005 was 4.9%, but it halved in next year to 2.4% in 2006.
