The chart below shows the total numbers of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories from 1995 to 2002.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
A quick glance at the chart demonstrates the amount of time, which is calculated in billions, of phone calls in the UK over a period of 8 years, from 1995 to 2002. Overall, it is indicated that people spent the most time on local-fixed line calls, however, the most dramatic growth was recorded in mobiles (all calls).
During 1995 and 1998, the total number of minutes made by the local-fixed line increased tediously form about 72 to 88 billion minutes and then reached the highest point at 90 million minutes in 1990. Since then, this figure gradually decreased and fell to the same number in 2002 as it was in 1995.
On the contrary, mobile phones became more popular. The total time that UK residents spent on this kind of calling rose sharply 9 times, form under 5 to 45 million minutes in 8 years. Similarly, there was a significant development in the time of national and international-fixed line, which doubled and peaked at 60 million minutes in 2002.
In conclusion, people in the UK tend to spend time on mobile despite the largest statistics of the local-fixed line.
