The bar chart compares the number of British graduate and postgraduate students who did not have a full-time job in terms of what they did in 2008.
Overall, there are more graduate students than postgraduates. Most of the graduates and postgraduates went to further study, while the second-largest category was part-time work. In addition, fewest students tended to do voluntary work.
As the graph shows, 29,665 graduate students went to further study, followed by part-time work, standing at 17,735 students. Similar to part-time work, the figure for unemployment graduates is also high, at 16,235 students. Only 3,500 graduate students did voluntary work in 2008.
On the other hand, although less in number, pursuing further study also ranked top on the destinations of the UK postgraduates at 2,725. A slightly smaller number of postgraduates did part-time jobs, at 2,535. The figure for unemployed postgraduate students was 1,625, while fewest students did voluntary work, at 345. Generally, the relative ranking of different types of destinations was the same in both graduates and postgraduates.
